There’s a riot in the common room.
Step inside the perennial structures of an upper class British high school and follow 7 teens as they tangle with the adolescent pressures of love, sex, bullying and dreams of ‘Oxbridge’. They are the smartest, the richest and the best; the cream of the crop turning sour.
“This is the History Boys on crack” – Simon Stephens
Punk Rock is a sharp and contemporary look at the underlying tensions of the young, weathly and aspirational. This is a world of Lily Allen haircuts, Kanye West jackets and a simering potential for violence. When the whole world opens before you, there’s a danger it’ll swallow you up.
Directed by Anthony Skuse and produced by pantsguys Productions, who brought you The Shape of Things Under the Wharf in 2011, this is a dangerous and tautly drawn Australian premiere of Simon Stephens’ urgent and shattering new play.
